Front Desk/Guest Service Agent (Full-Time)

Summary:  To provide seamless check-in and check-out processes for the guests, prepare for arrivals, process walk-ins, smoothly check in groups, verify departures and follow up on late departures.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Welcome and register guests in a timely manner.*
  • Check guests in and out, assign rooms and issue room keys or cards.*
  • Provide information about services available in the hostel and in the community.*
  • Protect privacy of guests and colleagues at all times.*
  • Verify customers’ credit and establish how the customer will pay for the accommodation.*
  • Promote and sell guest rooms.*
  • Keep an inventory of rooms reservations.*
  • Respond to reservation enquiries.*
  • Investigate and resolve disputed charges on guest accounts.*
  • Answer telephones and take messages.*
  • Handle and distribute guest mail.*
  • Record guest comments.*
  • Responsible for handling cash and operating the register.*
  • Communicate guest complaints and refer dissatisfied guests to a manager.*

Hospitality Agent (Full-Time)

Summary:  To provide general safety measures for the hostel property, staff and guests.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all shift reports and logs of incidents that occur each day.*
  • Update the security ledger by recording all packages that come into and go out of the hostel.*
  • Update security logs of all vendors coming in and out of the hostel.*
  • Make routine inspections of all facilities to include the parking lot – checks banquet rooms and guest rooms for proper use and safety conditions.*
  • Investigate internal and external thefts.*
  • Patrol public areas to detect fires, unsafe conditions, and damaged or inoperative safety equipment.*
  • Monitor receiving areas to assure use only be authorized personnel.*
  • Complete Incident Reports as required for any injury, theft, burglary, or other occurrences.*
  • Complete daily activity reports and communicate reports to the Security Supervisor.*
  • Handle emergency situations as required by the hostel’s emergency procedures.*
  • Assist Front Office and Housekeeping staff in maintaining the cleanliness of the lobby and front of the building.*
  • Properly store guest luggage ensuring privacy and protection.*

Houseperson (Full-Time)

Summary: To provide overall hostel cleanliness, ensuring hostel sanitary standards are met. A Houseperson would be responsible for cleaning and maintaining designated areas of the hostel and responding to guest requests. Daily tasks are in line with our continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial sustainability. Specifically, a Houseperson would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks including, but not limited to, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, shampooing carpets and chairs, washing windows, cleaning/waxing floors, removing and disposing of trash and emptying ashtrays.
  • Greet guest in a friendly manner
  • Change and wash all bed linen, bedspreads, blankets and towels as needed.*
  • Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets and tub-showers
  • Restock soap and toilet paper and provide clean towels as needed.*
  • Clean the rooms/lockers and dress the beds as needed or requested
  • Assist Room Attendants
  • Dust all counter tops, dresser tops and furniture as needed.*
  • Dust paintings and door jams in rooms and hallways weekly.*
  • Treat and cut the grass outside facility
  • Shovel during the winter season
  • Responsible for banquet set ups
  • Perform thorough cleanings and special projects (for example: mattress flipping, furniture moves, etc. as needed)
  • Recycle appropriate materials in accordance with training procedures.*
  • Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair
  • Report room status to include room readiness to Housekeeping Manager.*
  • Assure all unnecessarily lit lights are turned off as required.*
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms, as needed
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the grounds outside the hostel.*
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
