HI – NY General Information
Alcohol – Absolutely NO alcohol allowed on the premises, indoors or outdoors. Please see nightlife board next to elevator on ground floor for local bar & club information.
Cicoria Bros. Café – Serves light meals, beverages and snacks. Open daily from 7AM to 2PM, & Tuesday to Saturday 6 PM to 10:30PM.
Entry – To enter you must show your receipt and key to security, no exceptions. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate New York City residents.
Hours – We are open 24 hours a day – there is no curfew. Quiet hours are from 11PM to 8AM; please be considerate of other guests.
Housekeeping – Open 9AM to 5PM, located in basement next to Down Under Room. Extra blankets, towels & sheets are left out on table outside of housekeeping at all times.
Information Desk – Located in the lobby; we are eager to discuss all things New York, give advice, help you figure out travel/sightseeing plans, and make the most out of your visit to NYC. Open every day 8AM to 12AM.
Internet – Wifi is available in all common areas on the lower lobby level. The computer room rates are; $2 for first 20 mins.$1 for every 10 mins. thereafter, pay at machines, see Security with problems
Kitchen – Located in the basement.
Laundry – Located on the second floor. $1.50 for washer, aprox. $1.25 for dryer, 75 cents for soap & softener. All require quarters. Iron & board available.
Lockers -- Lockers are available both in rooms & on ground floor of hostel (room lockers are free, but require a lock). You can purchase a lock at the front desk if you do not have one ($3 plus tax). Luggage must be stored, HI–NY assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to property. Locks can be purchased at the reception desk.
Reception/Front Desk – Open 24 hrs. Located in lobby. Check-in is any time after 3pm. And while your're there you can cash travelers checks, purchase locks, get change, receive mail/packages, key replacement & towels
Pay-phones/Free Local calls -- Pay phones are located on every floor, phone cards are available on the lobby floor by the cafe. There is also a free phone in the the New York room available for local calls
Security – Open 24hrs. Check-out before 11AM. Security takes care of lost/stolen property, internet problems, special luggage storage (bikes, when lockers are full). They sign for packages & accepts luggage from airlines.
Smoking – There is NO smoking allowed anywhere inside the hostel – only outdoor areas - front entrance, ground floor terrace or second floor terrace.
Vending Machines – Beverage and snack machines are located on the lobby floor and cellar floor.
